Junior Cloud Engineer

About the role

Join ANZ's Core Platform team as a Junior Cloud Engineer and help build the engineering foundations that power payments and platform capabilities across the bank. You will rotate through feature work, small improvements, and production support, gaining a broad experience of cloud engineering in a fast‑moving financial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain cloud‑based platform capabilities that support ANZ's critical payments ecosystem.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to deliver feature enhancements, platform improvements, and production support within structured delivery cycles.
• Build and manage infrastructure‑as‑code solutions using Terraform and support cloud environments on GCP and other platforms.
• Create, test, and automate deployment pipelines with GitHub Actions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to ensure platform reliability, stability, and performance.
• Document technical solutions, decisions, and operational processes for knowledge sharing.
• Partner with engineers and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, customer‑focused technology solutions.
• Continuously learn cloud engineering skills through hands‑on experience, mentorship, and exposure to enterprise‑scale platforms.

Required profile

• Junior‑level professional eager to learn and take ownership of tasks.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work closely with senior engineers and follow clear mentorship paths.
• Experience with GCP, Terraform, and GitHub Actions is required; experience with AWS or Azure is a plus.
• Familiarity with Go or Python is a bonus.
