IT Support Intern (NSW)

About the role

An opportunity is available for a motivated IT student, recent graduate or aspiring IT professional to gain practical experience supporting information technology operations, troubleshooting technical issues and maintaining IT systems. The intern works alongside an IT team on day-to-day technical support, hardware and software troubleshooting, system maintenance and IT documentation. The role is tailored to the candidate's skills, experience and interests, and to the organisation's current IT requirements. It is based in New South Wales, Australia, lasts three months and working arrangements are agreed before starting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first-level IT support for hardware, software and connectivity issues
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with computers, printers, applications and peripherals
• Support setup, configuration and maintenance of computers, laptops and other IT equipment
• Assist with software installations, system updates and basic IT administration
• Help manage user accounts, access permissions and password requests under supervision
• Maintain IT asset registers, technical records and system documentation
• Diagnose basic network connectivity issues and escalate complex problems
• Monitor IT systems and support Microsoft 365, email and other business software where applicable
• Contribute to improving support processes, troubleshooting guides and internal documentation

Required profile

• Currently studying or recently graduated in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline
• Good analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills, able to help users with varying technical knowledge
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with an IT team

Required skills

• Familiarity with Windows and Microsoft 365
• Basic knowledge of computer networking, internet connectivity and troubleshooting
