Insurance Broker – Business Development Focus

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Insurance Broker with a strong business development mindset to join our Local Community Insurance Services team in Adelaide. The role combines traditional broking duties with proactive sales activities to grow and service a portfolio of community and not‑for‑profit clients across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and expand a portfolio of clients and prospects, building trust‑based relationships with senior decision‑makers.
• Develop new business by maintaining a prospect pipeline, conducting outreach (including cold‑calling), and moving opportunities through the sales funnel.
• Prepare and deliver tailored proposals and presentations that address client risks and insurance needs.
• Identify cross‑sell and up‑sell opportunities, manage renewals, and ensure policies remain appropriate.
• Collaborate with internal teams (policy administration, billing, finance, claims) to deliver a seamless client experience.
• Document all client interactions in the CRM system in line with compliance requirements.

Required profile

• 1–2+ years of experience in insurance broking, account management or a similar client‑facing role with a sales focus.
• Strong knowledge of general insurance products and the ability to identify client needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, confident dealing with senior stakeholders.
• Highly organised, self‑motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience using client/CRM or broking systems.
• RG146 Tier 1 Insurance Broking (or Tier 1 FSRA) certification preferred.
