Insulation Installer (Lagger) - Henderson

About the role

Austal, Australia's global shipbuilder and defence prime contractor, is looking for an Insulation Installer (Lagger) in Henderson, WA. You will help build, maintain and sustain defence and commercial vessels from the Henderson facility by installing, fitting and finishing insulation systems on shipbuilding projects, safely, efficiently and to a high quality.

Key responsibilities

• Install and fit insulation materials to pipes, ducts, equipment and structural components.
• Measure, cut and shape insulation materials to specification.
• Read and interpret work instructions, drawings and technical documentation.
• Complete work within agreed production schedules and quality standards.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and identify ways to reduce waste and improve material use.
• Work according to Austal's Zero Harm safety culture and safe work practices.
• Collaborate with production teams and other trades on vessel construction.

Required profile

• Australian full working rights.
• Previous experience in insulation installation, lagging, trade assistant work or a similar industrial environment.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality workmanship and teamwork.
• Commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards.
• Desirable: marine, shipbuilding, construction or industrial experience; High Risk Work Licence (forklift and/or EWP); experience reading technical drawings.

Required skills

• Accurate use of measuring tools and basic calculations.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications (desirable).
