Reliability Engineer (RAM) - Integrated Logistics Support

About the role

Austal is seeking a motivated and analytical Reliability Engineer (RAM) to join its Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) team supporting strategic shipbuilding programs. You will deliver Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) engineering activities that influence the design, supportability and long-term performance of complex maritime systems, working closely with engineering, maintenance and logistics teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct RAM modelling and analysis using industry-recognised methodologies
• Develop RAM assessments and metrics including MTBF, MTTR and operational availability measures
• Collect, analyse and validate operational and engineering data to support design and sustainment decisions
• Integrate RAM requirements into system design with multidisciplinary teams
• Support ILS functions including maintenance engineering, supply support and system safety
• Ensure RAM outputs comply with Defence standards, contractual requirements and Integrated Product Support policies
• Drive continuous improvement through data-driven recommendations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline)
• At least 3 years' experience in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Supportability Analysis or Life Cycle Cost Modelling
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills

Required skills

• Understanding of logistics support analysis and maintenance engineering principles
• Desirable: knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
• Desirable: familiarity with Weibull Analysis, MIL-HDBK-217 and MIL-STD-721
• Desirable: experience in naval shipbuilding, Defence programs, Defence contracting environments and ASDEFCON
