Information Security Engineer

About the role

The Information Security Engineer will own the cyber security posture of Torrens University institutions, working across IT and business teams to identify, analyse and remediate threats.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, operate and monitor security infrastructure, platforms, applications and tools.
• Conduct vendor security assessments for new vendors.
• Monitor, analyse and respond to security threats using systems such as Nexpose, Cisco AMP, Cisco IDS and Cisco Umbrella.
• Enter and track threat remediation actions in ticketing systems.
• Collaborate with technical managers, software development and IT operations to mitigate vulnerabilities and manage technology risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related technical field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in security analysis, engineering, research or consulting.
• 5+ years of networking experience, preferably with Cisco technologies.
• Proven ability to assess vulnerabilities using industry‑standard tools and to remediate security incidents.

Required skills

• Cisco technologies (AMP for Endpoints, IDS, Umbrella).
• Nexpose vulnerability scanner.
• Experience with security threat monitoring and incident response.
• Strong networking knowledge.
