Indian Restaurant Cook

About the role

A full-time Cook position is available in Smithfield, Queensland. The Cook prepares, seasons, cooks and presents a variety of authentic Indian dishes according to established recipes, food quality standards and customer requirements, while keeping food storage and hygiene practices in order and helping run the kitchen efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a wide range of Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items and regional specialties, following recipes and keeping quality consistent.
• Manage kitchen operations, including ordering supplies, keeping the workspace clear and organised and maintaining equipment.
• Assist with menu planning, development and execution, including catering events and parties.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations and keep the kitchen clean and organised.
• Collaborate with other cooks, chefs and kitchen staff for efficient food preparation and service.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety procedures.
• Monitor dish quality at every stage and implement programs to reduce food waste and ensure proper food storage.
• Follow work practices, wear protective clothing when needed and use safe manual handling techniques.

Required profile

• Certificate III, IV or higher qualification in Commercial Cookery.
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
