In-House Legal Counsel – Australia & New Zealand

About the role

The client is seeking an experienced In‑House Legal Counsel to support its expanding operations across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Regional Legal Lead, you will act as a key legal business partner to commercial and operational teams, delivering practical advice on contracts, compliance, governance and dispute matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial and logistics agreements, including transportation, warehousing, supplier, SLA and sales contracts.
• Provide regulatory and compliance advice on employment, privacy, trade, anti‑bribery, ESG and other relevant legislation in both jurisdictions.
• Support corporate governance, statutory filings, subsidiary management and post‑acquisition integration for ANZ entities.
• Identify legal risks, develop mitigation strategies, manage commercial claims and coordinate arbitration or litigation with external counsel.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer admitted or eligible for admission to practice in an Australian jurisdiction with the ability to obtain the necessary practising certificate.
• Demonstrated commercial legal experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, international trade, e‑commerce or a multinational corporation.
• Strong commercial contracting skills with the ability to independently draft, review and negotiate agreements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work across cultures and jurisdictions.

Required skills

• Professional working proficiency in Mandarin (highly advantageous).
• Practical knowledge of commercial/transport law, corporate governance, trade compliance, privacy and data protection, employment law and regulatory compliance.
