HV/LV Electrician (Defence Division)

About the role

A permanent full-time HV/LV Electrical Technician position is available in the Defence division, based at multiple locations in the Northern Territory. You will ensure the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and repair of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems, working under the EU Supervisor. The role requires a thorough understanding of the electrical trade, the role of Defence as the Electrical Operating Authority and its associated assets.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on HV and LV electrical systems and equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and issues, resolving them promptly.
• Install and commission electrical systems in line with relevant standards and regulations.
• Work with the EU Supervisor to coordinate and prioritise tasks and projects.
• Ensure all work is done safely, following Health and Safety regulations and best practice.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections and repairs.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders.
• Take part in training and development to stay current with industry standards.
• Support Defence's role as the Electrical Operating Authority by managing the associated assets.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement initiatives that improve efficiency.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience working with both HV and LV electrical systems.
• Familiarity with Defence operations and the responsibilities of the Electrical Operating Authority.
• Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical faults.
• Experience keeping accurate records and documentation.
• Strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations in an electrical environment.
• Relevant trade qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance.
