Human Resources Business Partner - Mining Site

About the role

A site-based operation in the mining sector is looking for an experienced Senior HR Advisor or HR Business Partner in a hands-on generalist role, with a strong focus on employee relations and case management. The position works closely with leaders to give practical advice and support across the full employee lifecycle. Previous mining experience is not essential; it suits an HR professional from an operational, industrial or fast-paced environment, or an established HR professional wanting site-based experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage employee relations cases from enquiry to resolution, consistently, professionally and on time
• Support and coach leaders on performance, conduct, disciplinary, grievance and workplace matters
• Conduct and support workplace investigations, including gathering information, documentation and recommendations
• Advise on the interpretation and application of employment legislation, policies, procedures and conditions
• Proactively identify and address people, performance and workforce issues with leaders
• Support performance management and development, and generalist HR support from onboarding to exit
• Support recruitment, mobilisation, onboarding and internal employee movements
• Assist with workforce planning, organisational change and position management
• Support employee engagement, retention and workforce initiatives
• Work with payroll and other stakeholders on employee queries, maintain HR documentation and records, and improve HR processes
• Build leadership capability through coaching and education, and contribute to People & Culture projects

Required profile

• Experienced HR generalist comfortable with a varied portfolio of employee matters
• Sound case management capability and confidence working with leaders
• Recent exposure to the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards for Australia is essential
• Mining or resources experience is not essential; construction, manufacturing, transport, logistics, heavy industry or similar operational experience transfers well
• Approachable, resilient and solutions-focused, able to build credibility across the workforce
