HSE Advisor – Expressions of Interest

About the role

EnerMech is seeking experienced HSE Advisors for upcoming shutdown, turnaround and maintenance projects in the Gladstone region. The role involves providing on‑site health, safety and environmental support to ensure compliance and promote a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site HSE support during shutdown and maintenance activities.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and safety observations.
• Facilitate pre‑start meetings, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Assist with risk assessments, JHAs, SWMS and permit‑to‑work systems.
• Investigate incidents, hazards and near misses.
• Monitor compliance with site procedures and statutory requirements.
• Support injury management and return‑to‑work programs.
• Coach and mentor supervisors and work crews on safe work practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an HSE Advisor in mining, shutdown, maintenance, construction or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and industry best practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proactive safety leadership and workforce engagement.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and ability to pass pre‑employment medicals and drug/alcohol screening.

Required skills

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum requirement).
• Construction White Card.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• ICAM or TapRooT investigation training.
• Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator experience.
• Working at Heights and Confined Space certification.
• Experience with contractor management systems and permit‑to‑work processes.
