HR Coordinator

About the role

An expanding Australian-owned organisation in Strathfield, Inner West Sydney, is looking for a hands-on HR Coordinator to work closely with the HR Manager. The role covers day-to-day HR matters, supports frontline employees and managers and ensures compliance with employment legislation and industrial requirements. It suits someone comfortable with sensitive employee matters, with exposure to employee relations and industrial relations, who can work autonomously and escalate complex issues.

Key responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for employee enquiries on employment conditions, award interpretation, rosters, overtime, allowances and leave entitlements.
• Manage routine employee relations matters such as workplace conflict, grievances, complaints and performance management.
• Support investigations, disciplinary processes and formal employee correspondence.
• Give practical HR advice and coaching to managers and employees.
• Maintain accurate employee records, HR systems, case registers and compliance documentation.
• Coordinate employment contracts, onboarding, inductions, recruitment and training activities.
• Identify ways to improve HR processes, policies and communication.

Required profile

• Experience in an HR coordination role with exposure to employee relations, industrial relations and generalist HR.
• Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation and award interpretation.
• Confidence handling workplace conflict, grievances, difficult conversations and performance matters.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Attention to detail, sound judgement and ability to manage confidential information.

Required skills

• HR qualifications.
• Experience with HRIS or workforce management systems (highly regarded).
