Home Assessing Team Leader - Northern Melbourne

About the role

SMAART is recruiting, on behalf of an Australian insurer, an experienced Home Assessing Team Leader to oversee a team across Melbourne's northern suburbs. The role combines working from home, regular attendance at the Sunshine office and travel across the region, within an established national organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Home Assessors who assess residential property damage, review repair scopes and deliver accurate, efficient claims outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance on building repairs, estimating and scopes of work.
• Monitor team performance, productivity and assessment quality.
• Support complex claims, escalations and operational challenges.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and cost outcomes.
• Build strong relationships with builders, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Previous experience leading, supervising or coaching a team.
• At least 2 years' experience in home assessing, insurance building or residential construction.
• Confident, approachable leader with strong technical knowledge and a genuine interest in developing people.
• Able to work autonomously and manage a team across multiple locations.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of building repairs, estimating and scopes of work.
• Insurance or property claims experience highly regarded.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
