HIAS Officer - Emergency Afterhours

About the role

The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is recruiting two HIAS Officers for emergency after-hours support at Perth Children's Hospital. The advertised role is the Emergency Afterhours position, with 2.5 full-time equivalents available; a second ED Relief Afterhours role is also open. Positions are fixed term, full time or part time, for 6 months with possible extension or permanency, and casual appointments are also available.

Key responsibilities

• Provide reception support to the Emergency Department and give relief support where directed.
• Handle patient enquiries over the counter and by telephone.
• Coordinate daily administrative requirements, including physical resources where needed.
• Screen incoming inter-hospital, public and private phone calls, internal and external mail and visitors, and direct them to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain timely and accurate patient data in the computerised patient administration system (PAS).

Required profile

• Suitably experienced person; ability to meet the work-related requirements is assessed during recruitment.
• Valid Australian work rights (visas are accepted); sponsorship is not available.
• Applicants must undergo criminal records screening and integrity checking, and possibly a working with children check and pre-employment health assessment.
