Heritage Architect - Commercial, Educational and Public Projects

About the role

An established, award-winning architectural practice in Sydney is looking for an architect with heritage experience or a strong interest in heritage architecture, conservation and adaptive re-use. You will work alongside an experienced team on a diverse portfolio of commercial, educational and public projects, gaining exposure to heritage work and helping deliver designs that respect the character and significance of existing buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and delivery of heritage and adaptive re-use projects across multiple stages
• Assist with design development, architectural documentation and detailing
• Develop sensitive design solutions that respond to existing buildings, heritage fabric and their broader context
• Contribute to heritage assessments, reports and conservation documentation
• Produce high-quality architectural drawings, details and presentations
• Collaborate with senior architects, consultants and clients to achieve successful project outcomes
• Assist with coordinating project information and ensuring design quality throughout the project lifecycle

Required profile

• A recognised architectural qualification
• Experience in an architectural practice, ideally with exposure to heritage, conservation or adaptive re-use projects
• A genuine interest in heritage architecture and the sensitive transformation of existing buildings
• Strong design aptitude, with an appreciation for materials, detailing and architectural context
• Excellent communication, organisational and collaboration skills, and a proactive attitude

Required skills

• Good technical documentation skills and an understanding of construction principles
• Revit is advantageous but not essential
