Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

About the role

The Heavy Vehicle Mechanic will join a skilled maintenance team at the Randwick Depot, ensuring the safety, reliability and performance of Transdev John Holland Buses’ fleet. You will service, repair and troubleshoot buses, support the transition to electric vehicles and contribute to sustainable public transport.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, service and maintain buses in line with regulatory and fleet standards.
• Diagnose and fix vehicle faults, conduct road tests after maintenance.
• Respond to breakdowns on‑site and in the field as required.
• Accurately record maintenance activities using computer‑based systems.
• Assist in training apprentices and trade assistants.
• Collaborate within a safety‑focused team to improve fleet reliability.

Required profile

• Current NSW MVTC Motor Mechanic Trade Certificate.
• TAFE Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
• Current HR Driver Licence or ability to obtain one.
• Strong computer literacy for maintenance record keeping.
• Experience supervising or mentoring apprentices (desirable).

Required skills

• Use of diagnostic scan tools.
• Heavy vehicle mechanical technology knowledge.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of $46.7505 AUD (inclusive of industry allowance) plus shift allowances and overtime.
• Total remuneration package of $103,464.48 AUD inclusive of superannuation.
