Heavy Diesel Mechanic - Mining Site (FIFO)

About the role

A locally owned, community-driven mechanical services provider based in Gove, Northern Territory, is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic for a site-based workshop on a major mining site. The role is on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster with 12-hour shifts, rotating day and night, with direct flights from Cairns or Darwin to Gove every Wednesday. Accommodation and meals are provided at the mining camp.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain Caterpillar mining equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues using advanced diagnostics
• Maintain and repair air-conditioning systems
• Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime

Required profile

• Diesel Mechanic trade certificate with at least 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience
• Automotive air-conditioning licence
• Valid driver's licence
• Proactive, adaptable and solution-oriented, able to work independently and uphold high standards of workmanship

Required skills

• Strong diagnostic capability with Caterpillar mining equipment
• Troubleshooting under pressure
• Repair of air-conditioning systems
