Head of Strategic Communications and Engagement

About the role

An exciting senior leadership opportunity to shape strategic communications for NSW Health’s digital transformation agency, eHealth NSW. The role combines internal and external communication leadership with brand and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of strategic communication plans aligned with organisational priorities and culture initiatives.
• Shape the organisation's reputation through proactive media engagement, public affairs leadership and management of high‑profile issues.
• Partner with the Chief Executive and senior leaders to influence communication strategy and ensure clear messaging of priorities.
• Drive brand awareness and employee engagement via innovative campaigns, strategic events and targeted stakeholder initiatives.
• Lead, develop and inspire a multidisciplinary communications team to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

Required profile

• Strategic communications leader with extensive experience in a large, complex organisation.
• Proven leadership capability managing and developing communications teams.
• Exceptional media and issues‑management expertise, including handling sensitive or reputational matters.
• Strong analytical and storytelling ability, using data and insights to shape narratives.
• Tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
