Head of Internal Audit & Business Assurance

About the role

A recruiter is partnering with a large, complex organisation to appoint an experienced Internal Audit leader to a senior position with significant executive exposure. The successful candidate will provide independent assurance across a complex business portfolio, working closely with senior stakeholders to identify emerging risks, strengthen controls and support business resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee a portfolio of internal audit and assurance activities, aligned to key business risks and strategic priorities.
• Provide independent assurance on governance, operational risks, internal controls, technology dependencies and business transformation.
• Build strong relationships with senior executives, offering credible insight and constructive challenge.
• Identify emerging business and operational risks so audit activities stay relevant as the organisation evolves.
• Oversee high-quality audits and reviews, giving practical recommendations and clear reporting to senior leadership.
• Lead, coach and develop a team in a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Required profile

• Significant leadership experience in Internal Audit, Business Assurance or Risk Advisory.
• Experience in a large, complex organisation or a Big 4 consulting environment.
• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering risk-based audit plans.
• Proven ability to engage, influence and challenge senior executive stakeholders.
• Relevant professional qualifications such as CIA, CA, CPA or CISA are desirable.
