Head of Finance

About the role

Lead the finance function for one of Australia’s most trusted not‑for‑profit organisations. Provide high‑level financial advice, analysis and reporting to senior leaders, the Executive Leadership Team and the Board while driving system improvements, automation and strong organisational controls.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all finance and accounting operations, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, taxation, audit, insurance and statutory compliance.
• Deliver commercial analysis and strategic financial advice for contracts, tenders, business cases and organisational decisions.
• Develop the finance team and enhance systems, internal controls, automation, governance and continuous improvement.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end reporting, coordinate annual budgets and re‑forecasts, and prepare reports for the ELT, Audit & Risk Committee and Board.
• Partner with senior leaders across aviation, clinical, operations and corporate services to improve financial performance and contract profitability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Commerce with a major in Accounting.
• Current CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) qualification.
• Significant experience leading finance or accounting operations in a complex organisation.
• Proven ability in statutory reporting, audit, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, cash flow management and financial analysis.
• Track record of improving financial systems, internal controls, automation and team capability.
• Strong commercial judgement, communication and influencing skills, preferably with experience in a not‑for‑profit or geographically dispersed environment.
