Head of Department – Global, Cultural & Technological Perspectives

About the role

The Queensland Department of Education is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative educational leader to head the Global, Cultural and Technological Perspectives portfolio at Fortitude Valley State Secondary College. This temporary full‑time position runs from 3 August 2026 to 11 December 2026 and offers the chance to shape curriculum, co‑curricular programs and school‑wide strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Global, Cultural and Technological Perspectives portfolio, including the Technologies learning area and the Agile Minds and Genius Hour programs.
• Provide instructional leadership across curriculum design, delivery and assessment.
• Support the Department of Education’s Brighter Futures strategy through innovative teaching practices.
• Mentor and develop teaching staff, building capability in curriculum and pedagogy.
• Contribute to student pastoral care and promote a culture of excellence and innovation.

Required profile

• Proven instructional leadership experience in a secondary school setting.
• Strong communication, collaboration and change‑management abilities.
• Commitment to improving student outcomes and fostering resilient problem‑solvers.
• Ability to work agilely in a fast‑moving educational environment.
