Head of Communications

About the role

For Purpose Aged Care Australia is establishing its first dedicated communications function and seeks an experienced leader to shape internal and external communications, influence sector conversations, and advise senior executives.

Key responsibilities

• Build and implement an integrated, group‑wide communications strategy, annual plan, channels and standards.
• Connect staff with the organisation’s purpose and strategy through tailored communications for homes and the Support Centre.
• Equip leaders to communicate effectively, translating key messages for teams across the business.
• Lead corporate, issues‑based and reactive media relations, ensuring alignment with marketing and brand.
• Develop government relations, policy engagement and advocacy across federal and state levels.
• Manage crisis, serious incident and reputational communications.
• Create storytelling and recognition programmes to reinforce culture and values.
• Simplify information access to reduce administrative effort and support the “More Time to Care” focus.

Required profile

• Senior communications professional with experience in aged care, healthcare or other highly regulated sectors.
• Proven track record in internal, change and executive communications.
• Experience in government relations, public affairs or policy advocacy.
• Strong media and crisis communications capability.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills.
• Ability to design structures from ambition and execute hands‑on delivery.
