Head of Communications (Full time) – Cheltenham

About the role

Purpose Aged Care Australia is creating its first dedicated communications function and needs an experienced leader to design and run it. Reporting to the Executive General Manager Strategy & Performance, you will advise the Group CEO and Executive Leadership Team and work across Operations, Marketing, Strategy and other functions.

Key responsibilities

• Build a group‑wide communications function, defining strategy, channels, tone of voice and standards.
• Develop and deliver an integrated communications plan that connects staff to the organisation’s purpose and strategy.
• Equip senior leaders, General Managers and Home Managers to communicate effectively with their teams.
• Lead corporate, issues‑based and reactive media relations, ensuring alignment with the brand.
• Manage government relations, policy engagement and advocacy at federal and state levels.
• Guide crisis, serious incident and reputational communications.
• Create storytelling and recognition programmes to reinforce culture and values.
• Simplify information access to reduce administrative effort.

Required profile

• Senior communications professional with experience in aged care, healthcare or other highly regulated sectors.
• Proven track record in internal, change and executive communications.
• Experience in government relations, public affairs or policy advocacy.
• Strong media and crisis communications capability.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills.
• Ability to build structures from ambition and roll up sleeves to deliver.
