Head of Capital & Corporate Finance

About the role

The position sits within the Australian division of an international property developer, reporting to the CEO and dotted‑line to Group Finance. It leads the funding strategy, balancing capital raising, transaction execution, intercompany funding and finance operations for a growing development pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute funding strategies for projects and entities, originating and closing senior debt, non‑bank, private credit, mezzanine and bridging facilities.
• Support equity and joint‑venture capital raises from institutional, family‑office and wholesale investors.
• Structure and manage cross‑border intercompany loans and equity transfers, ensuring compliance with FIRB, thin‑capitalisation, transfer pricing and withholding tax rules.
• Oversee treasury functions including banking relationships, facility drawdowns, covenant monitoring, cash‑flow forecasting and FX/interest‑rate risk.
• Build and review feasibility, project funding, IRR and cash‑flow waterfall models to inform investment decisions.
• Manage finance operations such as project cost controls, progress claims, WIP, retentions, management accounts and statutory compliance.

Required profile

• 12–15+ years of finance experience, including at least 5 years in corporate finance, fund raising or treasury, preferably within property development, debt advisory, banking or private credit.
• Proven track record of originating and closing property development debt and capital structures in Australia.
• CA or CPA qualification; CFA or postgraduate finance qualifications are advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced financial modelling (IRR, waterfall, peak‑debt calculations).
• In‑depth knowledge of cross‑border funding regulations and Australian tax/reporting frameworks.
• Practical understanding of construction and development accounting, including WIP, progress claims and retentions.
