HC Truck Driver (Casual to Permanent)

About the role

A well-established manufacturing and distribution business based in Geelong is seeking an experienced and reliable HC truck driver through Workforce Extensions Geelong. The work is based at the client's Charlemont facility, delivering manufactured products to customers across Geelong, Melbourne and regional Victoria, mostly in Melbourne's western suburbs. The role starts on a casual basis, with the chance to move to permanent, full-time employment after about three months.

Key responsibilities

• Drive HC truck and trailer combinations safely and professionally
• Complete deliveries to customers across Geelong, Melbourne and regional Victoria
• Secure and restrain loads according to transport safety requirements
• Prepare and secure loads for the next day's deliveries
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety issues
• Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and driver records, including logbooks where required
• Communicate with production, dispatch and customers and assist with transport and dispatch duties when needed
• Represent the business professionally at customer sites

Required profile

• Current and valid HC driver's licence
• Experience operating heavy vehicles and trailer combinations
• Confidence navigating Melbourne's road network and managing delivery schedules independently
• Good communication skills and a professional approach with customers
• Reliable attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to workplace safety
• Willingness to do regional deliveries when required; previous experience with manufactured products, timber or building materials is highly regarded

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of load restraint and transport safety requirements
• Familiarity with Melbourne's western suburbs and experience keeping driver logbooks are advantageous
• A forklift licence is not required
