Halal Slaughter Person

About the role

JBS Scone, a beef processing facility in the Upper Hunter area about 2 hours north-west of Newcastle, is looking for an experienced or trainee Halal Slaughter Person. The role suits someone who is hardworking, reliable, has a positive work attitude and a passion for delivering a high standard of quality product. It is a full-time position of 7.6 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with on-site training provided.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general slaughtering
• Adhere to workplace health and safety and quality procedures
• Work well within a team and communicate effectively
• Maintain high standards of animal welfare
• Show superior attendance, integrity, good presentation and a professional work attitude
• Work in a fast-paced environment with a high focus and attention to detail

Required profile

• Must be a practicing Muslim
• Experience in Halal slaughter/sticking; trainees are welcome with no experience required
• Accredited by a recognised Islamic body (e.g. SICHMA) and AUS-MEAT

Required skills

• Well-developed knife handling and technical skills, including knife sharpening
• Good communication skills
