Group Accounting Manager

About the role

Super Retail Group, which owns Supercheap Auto, rebel, BCF and Macpac, is looking for a Group Accounting Manager to lead its Group Accounting team and drive financial integrity, governance and reporting. The role delivers accurate and timely financial and management reporting across the group and its entities, owns the general ledger and consolidated reporting, and ensures compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and reporting standards. It is based at the rebel Home Ground Office in Sydney, Rhodes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Group Accounting team and set clear operational direction for accurate, timely and compliant reporting.
• Own the month-end close and reporting process, giving executive leadership a single source of truth.
• Maintain a strong financial control environment and ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, regulatory requirements and internal controls.
• Oversee balance sheet integrity, reconciliations and financial governance, supporting audit readiness.
• Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation, standardisation, automation and management of finance system interfaces.
• Analyse actuals, budgets and forecasts with stakeholders, identifying risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
• Lead statutory reporting, audit and tax support, working with internal and external auditors.
• Act as accounting subject matter expert on projects and change initiatives.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified, with a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading large, geographically dispersed finance or accounting teams in complex organisations.
• Extensive financial accounting expertise and experience in a listed company or large corporate reporting environment.
• Demonstrated success leading change initiatives in fast-paced environments; retail or high-volume industry experience is highly regarded.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of regulatory, statutory and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in financial reporting systems, data analysis tools and financial management technology.
