Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer – Medical Devices

About the role

We are seeking a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading medical device developer in Sydney. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of innovative healthcare technologies from concept through to manufacture.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design and development of medical devices, creating 3D CAD models, assemblies and engineering drawings.
• Assist with prototype development, testing, and product evaluation activities.
• Participate in design verification and validation, design reviews and continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing and Regulatory teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, BOMs, engineering changes and design records.
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing partners as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Medical, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline.
• Recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience in mechanical design or medical device engineering.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection moulding, sheet metal and assembly.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360 or similar).
• Knowledge of mechanics, materials and design principles.
• Experience with design verification, testing and prototyping processes.
• Ability to produce technical documentation and manage BOMs and engineering changes.
