Graduate Maintenance Engineer – Automation & Robotics

About the role

We are looking for a Graduate Maintenance Engineer to gain hands‑on experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, and preventative maintenance. You will work closely with engineering and operations teams on mobile robots, ASRS, conveyor systems, and robotic arms, gradually taking ownership of maintenance planning and system optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing preventative maintenance schedules for automated equipment.
• Support coordination of spare parts and consumables with internal teams and clients.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns, perform troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports and documentation.
• Diagnose and resolve faults in PLC systems (Siemens, Omron) including ladder logic and I/O configurations.
• Modify and update PLC programs to improve performance.
• Troubleshoot communication issues between PLCs and devices such as sensors, motors, servo drives and VFDs.
• Gain exposure to HMI/SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols.
• Assist in maintaining electrical and mechanical CAD drawings.
• Support system improvements to enhance reliability and maintainability.
• Prepare technical documentation, SOPs and installation procedures.
• Perform basic mechanical maintenance tasks under supervision.

Required skills

• Basic PLC programming (Siemens, Omron preferred).
• Understanding of industrial automation systems and robotics.
• Familiarity with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar).
• Knowledge of electrical systems, sensors, motors and drives.
• Exposure to HMI/SCADA systems.
• Experience with ladder logic, I/O configuration and communication protocols.
• Understanding of VFDs and servo drives.
