Graduate Electrical Engineer – Rail & Metro

About the role

SMEC, part of the Surbana Jurong Group, is looking for a recent Electrical Engineering graduate to join its Rail & Metro team in Brisbane. The role is part of a two‑year Graduate Development Program that gives you hands‑on experience on major rail and metro infrastructure projects while receiving structured learning and mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Support design development, including preparation of drawings, 3‑D models and technical documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to understand the implementation of designs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and meet project milestones.
• Apply industry standards, tools and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Recent graduate with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong problem‑solving attitude and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Eagerness to learn from experienced engineers and develop consulting skills.
