Graduate Accountant or Auditor – 2027 Program

About the role

Stannards is seeking final‑year or recent graduates to join its Melbourne team as Graduate Accountants or Graduate Auditors starting February 2027. You will work full‑time on real client engagements, receive mentoring from senior professionals, and develop technical expertise in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare income tax returns, financial statements, FBT returns and BAS for a variety of entities (Graduate Accountant).
• Assist in planning and executing financial statement audits, perform substantive testing and analytical reviews (Graduate Auditor).
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients and internal teams to gather information and resolve queries.
• Develop proficiency with accounting and audit software, and produce accurate workpapers and documentation.

Required profile

• Final‑year or recent graduate with a Commerce/Business degree majoring in Accounting.
• Motivated, detail‑oriented, strong communicator and eager to learn.
• Interest in client service, teamwork and emerging technologies.

Required skills

• Experience with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and Excel.
• Familiarity with Stannards’ internal tools such as XPM, Active Workpapers, MyWorkpapers, FYI Docs.
