Governance Officer - Local Government

About the role

Mars Recruitment is seeking an experienced Governance Officer for a local government organisation in Perth, WA, on a full-time fixed-term contract until March 2027, with the potential for a further 12-month extension. Working within a busy Governance team, the officer coordinates Council meetings, prepares agendas and ensures governance processes are managed accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate Council meetings, including preparation and distribution of agendas.
• Ensure Council reports, meeting documentation and records are accurate and completed on time.
• Support Council decision-making processes and ensure statutory compliance.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to obtain information and meet reporting deadlines.
• Provide administrative and governance support to Council and executive teams.
• Identify and implement improvements to governance processes and procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in governance, ideally within local government.
• Experience coordinating Council meetings and preparing agendas.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly around data accuracy.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Understanding of local government legislation and Council procedures.
