Geotechnical Engineer – Queensland

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer/Geologist to join its Ground and Underground team in Queensland. You will work on a variety of infrastructure, defence and energy projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, high‑quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning and execution of geotechnical site investigations in accordance with relevant standards.
• Assist with geotechnical analysis, design and reporting across multiple projects.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to meet project requirements and deliver technical outputs.
• Contribute to documentation and high‑quality technical deliverables.
• Support ongoing delivery of major infrastructure, defence and linear energy programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or Geology (or related discipline).
• 2–3 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering or geology, preferably in consulting.
• Willingness to travel for site investigations and obtain security clearance for defence projects.
• Strong communication, teamwork and a proactive attitude toward learning.

Required skills

• Experience with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Rocscience, OpenGround or Leapfrog.
• Field experience in site investigations, drilling or related environments.
