Geomatics Survey Specialist

About the role

DOF is seeking an experienced Geomatics Survey Specialist to join its high‑performing Survey & Inspection team in Perth. The role bridges complex offshore field data with high‑quality project deliverables, ensuring compliance, data integrity and HSEQ standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan projects, define hardware/software requirements and configure survey equipment.
• Maintain NAS drives, dongles, HDDs, Azure storage, VMs and client‑specific applications.
• Manage vessel‑based data acquisition and oversee end‑to‑end data transfer to office, cloud and archive systems.
• Process offshore datasets including multibeam, side‑scan sonar, sub‑bottom profiler, bathymetry and navigation.
• Ensure rigorous data integrity and real‑time database updates.
• Lead final report preparation and conduct technical reviews of peer reports.
• Drive continuous improvement of systems and explore emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Hydrographic Surveying, Geophysics, Geoscience or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 + years offshore data processing experience on complex survey projects.
• IMCA competence for a Geomatic Surveyor.
• Self‑motivated, disciplined with strong organisational and management skills.
• Commitment to HSEQ and alignment with values of respect, integrity, teamwork, excellence and safety.

Required skills

• Configuring and troubleshooting survey hardware and software suites.
• Proficiency in GIS, charting tools, cloud‑based workflows and QA/QC methodologies.
• Processing multibeam, side‑scan sonar, sub‑bottom profiler and navigation data.
• Management of NAS drives, dongles, HDDs, Azure storage and virtual machines.
