Generalist Teacher (K‑12) – 36 Month Fixed Term

About the role

The Department of Education is seeking a passionate Generalist Teacher for Jigalong Remote Community School, a K‑12 school serving the Martu Aboriginal community. This is a 36‑month fixed‑term, full‑time position starting as soon as possible, based in the remote town of Jigalong, Western Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging literacy and numeracy lessons across primary and secondary year levels.
• Implement explicit instruction and structured classroom routines to maximise student engagement and learning outcomes.
• Support English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) learners and adapt resources for diverse needs.
• Collaborate with Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers, Education Assistants, and community members to create a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and community activities.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building relationships with students, families, and community stakeholders.
• Demonstrated flexibility, resilience and a collaborative mindset for remote‑area teaching.
• Commitment to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for every child, every day.
• Willingness to live on‑site in teacher housing and engage with the local Aboriginal community.

Required skills

• Experience teaching literacy and numeracy across a range of age groups.
• Knowledge of EAL/D strategies and culturally responsive pedagogy.
