General Practitioner

About the role

A modern, privately owned clinic in Cairns North is seeking a passionate and experienced General Practitioner to join its team. The position is full time, based in the Cairns and Hinterland region, and the application closes on 01 December 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients and take medical histories
• Diagnose illnesses, injuries and medical conditions
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results
• Prescribe medications and treatments
• Perform minor surgical procedures and medical interventions
• Provide emergency and urgent medical care
• Monitor patient progress and treatment outcomes
• Refer patients to medical specialists when required
• Administer vaccinations and immunisations
• Conduct health screenings and preventive care assessments
• Counsel patients on health, lifestyle and disease prevention
• Maintain accurate patient medical records and complete medical certificates and statutory reports

Required profile

• Registration with AHPRA
• At least two years of relevant clinical experience as a GP
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to high-quality patient care
• Understanding of Medicare and the Australian healthcare system preferred
