Garment Technologist – Technical Development

About the role

Bardot is seeking a detail‑driven Garment Technologist to own the technical development of every style, from spec creation through to production sign‑off. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will work closely with the design team to translate trend‑led concepts into accurate, production‑ready garments for both Southern and Northern hemisphere collections.

Key responsibilities

• Create precise specs, tech packs, bills of materials and fit comments using Excel, Publisher and AP21.
• Submit graded measurements to suppliers and ensure consistent application of garment grade rules.
• Review bulk fabric, trim approvals, lab dips, print strike‑offs and care labels for accuracy.
• Conduct garment fittings, document fit alterations with images and written notes.
• Collaborate with in‑house pattern makers and sample machinists to refine product.
• Manage styles from first fit to production approval, ensuring samples match design intent.
• Liaise with factories and suppliers to negotiate FOB pricing and develop cost‑effective, high‑quality products.
• Communicate construction, fabric and finishing requirements throughout development.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Garment Technologist, preferably in fashion or apparel.
• Strong technical expertise in spec writing, tech pack creation, grading and BOM management.
• Comfortable working with pattern makers and sample machinists with a keen eye for fit.
• Solid understanding of fabrics, trims, fastenings and garment construction.
• Experience negotiating with factories and suppliers, including FOB terms.
