Funeral Administrative Arranger (Receptionist)
Mayday Recruitment · Rockingham
Job description
About the role
Mayday Recruitment is recruiting, on behalf of a funeral services provider, a permanent full-time Funeral Administrative Arranger (receptionist) for its Rockingham, WA location. The role is predominantly reception and customer service focused, acting as the first point of contact for families and visitors. It is not a funeral arranging position: you will mainly be based at the location, with no requirement to attend or conduct funeral services, though there may be occasional support for viewings or service preparations.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for families, visitors and other stakeholders, giving a warm, professional and compassionate welcome.
- Answer incoming calls and make outbound calls to families and relevant contacts.
- Manage a busy reception environment, balancing multiple enquiries and competing priorities.
- Provide general administrative and reception support to the Funeral Arrangers and Conductors.
- Ensure accurate information is passed to the funeral team so services run smoothly.
- Handle enquiries with sensitivity, professionalism and discretion, and maintain accurate records of confidential information.
- Support the wider team with administrative tasks.
Required profile
- Ideally previous experience as a receptionist, medical receptionist or front-of-house customer service staff member; funeral industry experience is not essential.
- Backgrounds in medical reception, healthcare, aged care, hospitality, administration or other customer-facing roles are welcome.
- Naturally warm, organised and people-focused, able to stay calm and professional in sensitive situations.
Required skills
- Strong multitasking and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence answering calls and greeting visitors.
- Attention to detail and comfort with computer systems and general administrative tasks.
- Ability to work independently within an experienced team.
What we offer
- Permanent full-time employment, Monday to Friday, approximately 8:30am to 4:30pm with some flexibility.
- A supportive team environment and full training and ongoing support.
- Possible development into funeral arranging later, and a career with an established organisation serving families across Australia.
