About the role

We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Full‑Time Commis Chef to join the vibrant kitchen team at Pullman East Melbourne. This hands‑on position is ideal for someone passionate about food, eager to learn, and ready to develop a career in a fast‑paced, high‑quality hotel kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and presentation of dishes across à la carte, buffet, banqueting and room service.
• Support daily mise‑en‑place and kitchen prep to ensure smooth service.
• Prepare ingredients and cook basic dishes under the direction of senior chefs.
• Maintain a clean and organised workstation in line with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Work closely with the kitchen team to deliver consistent, high‑quality meals.
• Follow senior chefs’ directions while building technical skills and kitchen knowledge.

Required profile

• Previous kitchen experience in a hotel or similarly fast‑paced environment.
• Exposure to à la carte service, especially in restaurant settings.
• Solid understanding of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
• Strong time‑management skills and the ability to stay organised under pressure.
• Positive, team‑focused attitude with clear communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, take direction and continuously improve.
• Availability to work evening and overnight shifts.
