Full-Time Chef

About the role

NRMA Murramarang Beachfront Holiday Resort, located north of Batemans Bay on the South Coast of NSW, is looking for a full-time qualified Chef. The role is hands-on across the resort's food and beverage venues, including the Beach Bistro, a takeaway outlet and conference and event operations. It is a high-volume position, especially during peak holiday periods and summer.

Key responsibilities

• Work a variety of shifts across breakfast, lunch and dinner service, supporting a busy kitchen serving resort guests, locals, conferences and weddings
• Prepare food to a high standard within established menu, recipe and food cost frameworks, ensuring consistency, quality and compliance with company standards
• Maintain food quality, consistency and presentation during high-volume service
• Monitor hygiene of food preparation areas, equipment and storage facilities
• Assist with stock control, ordering and minimising food wastage
• Support conference, event and wedding catering operations
• Under the direction of the Head Chef, assist with kitchen management, portion control and supervising junior team members
• Maintain a safe, compliant workplace in line with food safety and WHS requirements

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery
• Previous experience as a qualified Chef in a busy restaurant, hotel, resort or functions environment
• Experience preparing high-volume meals while keeping quality and consistency
• Sound understanding of modern Australian cuisine and contemporary food trends
• Experience catering for conferences, events or weddings is highly regarded
• Ability to work a 7-day roster, including weekends, evenings and public holidays

• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced kitchen
• Collaborative teamwork in the kitchen
