Fuel Operator – Aviation Fuel Management

About the role

This is a full‑time permanent position based at RAAF Base Tindal. You will receive a payment package that includes base salary, superannuation, overtime, penalties and allowances, together with a structured training and development program. No prior defence or fuel‑industry experience is required – you will be fully trained.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate and manage aviation and ground fuel installations in line with compliance requirements.
• Monitor and maintain fuel quality through regular sampling and testing.
• Ensure fuel quality, compliance, volume and availability using systems such as JFIMS and SCADA.
• Work a mix of day, afternoon and night shifts (8‑hour shifts with a paid 20‑minute crib break), with night shifts mainly during exercise periods.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and ability to pass a police check.
• Valid driver’s licence (HR or HC desirable but not essential at entry).
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including night periods during exercises.
• Ability to follow training and operate technology‑focused systems.

Required skills

• Experience or familiarity with JFIMS (Joint Fuel Information Management System).
• Experience or familiarity with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
