Front Office Duty Manager

About the role

Stamford Hotels and Resorts, part of the Stamford Group, which manages a portfolio of luxury premium hotels in Australia, is looking for a Front Office Duty Manager for its Melbourne property. This is a permanent full-time position where you act as the senior leader on shift, leading the front office team, handling guest feedback and ensuring hotel standards are met. You report directly to the Front Office Manager and work across a 7-day roster including weekends, evenings and public holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily front office operations during assigned shifts, leading and supporting the front desk, concierge and guest services teams
• Manage guest check-ins and check-outs and handle guest complaints, feedback and service recovery
• Act as the senior point of contact for all departments during your shift and ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures and brand standards
• Conduct shift briefings and effective handovers, and assist with staff training, coaching and performance feedback
• Monitor room availability, reservations and allocations with Reservations and Housekeeping, and manage incident reports and guest issues
• Ensure accurate financial transactions and complete shift audits
• Maintain safety, security and emergency readiness, and step in to support the Front Office Manager when needed

Required profile

• Previous experience in a front office leadership or duty manager role; hotel experience preferred
• Previous front office operations and team supervision experience
• Comfortable working across a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
• Full and unrestricted Australian working rights

Required skills

• Familiarity with hotel systems such as Opera, RMS or similar
• First Aid and RSA certifications, or willingness to obtain them
• Communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
