Front-End Developer

About the role

Qantas is looking for a hands‑on Front‑End Developer to join its new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. You will help design and deliver high‑traffic, customer‑facing web applications that provide fast, secure and reliable digital experiences for airline passengers.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, develop and maintain scalable front‑end systems using modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Collaborate with design and product teams to implement reusable UI components and design‑system standards.
• Integrate front‑end code with cloud services and back‑end APIs, ensuring performance and accessibility.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD pipelines and monitoring of production systems.
• Continuously improve code quality, performance and user experience.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven track record building high‑traffic, customer‑facing web applications.
• Strong passion for UX, browser performance and accessibility.
• Accountable mindset with a test‑and‑learn attitude.
• Experience working in an agile, collaborative environment.

Required skills

• JavaScript, React (including SSR and Micro Front‑Ends), HTML, CSS, CSS Modules.
• Design‑system usage and reusable component libraries.
• AWS services such as EC2, S3 and Lambda (preferred).
• Container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions, version control with Git.
• Automated testing and observability tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog).
• Knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Edge Delivery Services (desirable).
• Experience consuming GraphQL APIs (desirable).
