Front Desk & Customer Service Support (4-Day Work Week)

About the role

Lyons Mechanical & Tyres is looking for a reliable, customer‑focused Front Desk & Customer Service Support professional to be the first point of contact for clients visiting or calling the workshop. The role ensures smooth daily operations, from greeting customers to coordinating loan‑car logistics and keeping technicians informed.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome customers in person, answer phone calls and respond to email enquiries.
• Schedule service appointments using Automation Premium and liaise with mechanics on job progress.
• Manage loan‑car preparation – fueling, cleaning and handover – to ensure readiness for customers.
• Act as the communication bridge between customers and technicians, providing updates, quotes and job status.
• Process invoices and payments and perform general administrative duties.
• Maintain a tidy front desk and waiting area, and support office filing and record‑keeping.
• Assist with compliance and safety documentation, such as equipment and asset records.
• Identify operational gaps early and propose solutions to keep workshop flow uninterrupted.

Required profile

• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Highly organised, reliable and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proactive mindset, anticipating issues before they arise.
• Team player comfortable working with both front‑of‑house and workshop staff.
• Previous experience in automotive, trade or front‑desk/reception roles is advantageous but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Experience with booking/scheduling and office software; familiarity with workshop management software is a plus.
