Freedom of Information Consultant

About the role

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Consultant will support the Department of Housing and Works in delivering end‑to‑end FOI services under the Freedom of Information Act 1992. Working within a collaborative, values‑driven team, you will manage enquiries, assess documents for release, and provide advice to senior decision‑makers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, log and process FOI enquiries and applications.
• Coordinate the assessment of records against legislative and policy requirements.
• Prepare formal decisions and recommendations for senior managers.
• Maintain accurate records of FOI activities and outcomes.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on FOI processes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to work in a high‑volume, performance‑driven environment.
• Strong understanding of legislative or regulatory frameworks related to information access.
• Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proven written communication skills for preparing clear, compliant responses.
