Fraud Scam Prevention Senior Analyst

About the role

This role sits within the Fraud Prevention team and works with stakeholders across the business to protect customers and ANZ from application and origination fraud, minimising fraud losses while keeping customer experience friction low. It is a mentoring position: you will shape, drive and guide more junior members of the analytics team. The role is based in Melbourne (Docklands) and is permanent and full-time, 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Minimise exposure to fraud, identify trends and find ways to improve rules and strategies for application and origination fraud
• Collaborate with functions such as Fraud Operations to design detection controls aligned with business risk appetite
• Keep false positives low and minimise unnecessary account restrictions
• Maintain metrics focused on continuous improvement, including automation and innovation, with timely and accurate reporting
• Implement strategic and tactical responses to fraud and scam threats using fraud prevention and detection solutions
• Build strong relationships with business stakeholders to reduce fraud risk in existing processes and new initiatives
• Deliver the fraud and scam analytics strategy, roadmap and initiatives
• Provide subject matter expertise, mentorship and coaching to other members of the analytics team

Required profile

• Ideally at least 3 years' experience in fraud, financial crime or credit risk
• Experience working with large and complex datasets
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Proven customer focus and excellent written and verbal communication
• Extensive knowledge of banking products and the industry

Required skills

• Advanced technical skills, including SQL
• Analytical languages such as SAS, R or Python
