FPGA Build System Engineer – Engineering Productivity

About the role

Arista Networks is seeking an FPGA Build System Engineer to join its Engineering Productivity team in Sydney. You will design, optimise and maintain build systems and CI/CD pipelines that support FPGA development workflows across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise scalable, reliable build systems for FPGA projects.
• Develop end‑to‑end CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and automate build processes with Python, Shell/Bash and Makefiles.
• Build and deploy containerised build environments with Docker and orchestrate them via Kubernetes.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks and apply optimisation strategies to reduce build times.
• Provide troubleshooting for complex build failures, dependency issues and toolchain problems.
• Implement infrastructure‑as‑code using Ansible and manage source‑control workflows with Git and Gerrit.

Required profile

• At least a BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience designing and operating build systems and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong Linux/UNIX administration and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

• Ansible (or other IaC frameworks).
• Linux system administration.
• FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado, Xilinx ISE, Intel Quartus, ModelSim.
• Monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Version‑control systems including Bitbucket and Perforce.
