Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

P-1 AI is building an AI engineer agent named Archie, designed to fit into existing engineering teams and workflows. The Forward Deployed Engineer acts as the technical lead for each customer deployment, making key technical decisions on architecture, data integrations and user experience. You will build end-to-end AI solutions, take them into production and help customers solve real-world physical engineering problems.

Key responsibilities

• Work with customers over the entire Archie product lifecycle: lead discovery sessions, turn engineering challenges into AI use cases, design integration into each workflow and provide post-deployment support.
• Design, implement and refine customer integrations, connecting Archie to engineering data sources and tools.
• Fine-tune and evaluate AI systems in production, preparing customer data and sourcing evaluation criteria from customer sessions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and AI specialists to develop novel AI systems for critical customer tasks.
• Diagnose and resolve critical issues in live deployments through root-cause analysis.

Required profile

• Experience shipping data-driven or AI systems to production (Python experience strongly preferred).
• A physical engineering background such as automotive, aerospace, electrical or mechanical.
• Ability to build integrations between disparate customer systems quickly.
• Comfortable working directly with customers and technical leaders.
• Experience integrating or extending AI systems; solutions delivered in secure enterprise environments and live production troubleshooting are a plus.

The role is remote in Australia, with 40% of the time spent on customer sites in Perth. The interview process includes an introductory call, a biographical/behavioural interview, a technical interview and a CEO interview.
