Food Service Attendant - Renal Hostel

About the role

A renal hostel in Kununurra, Western Australia, is looking for an organised and dependable Food Service Attendant. The role starts in mid-November 2026 and runs until mid-January 2027, with a possible extension. You will help prepare and serve meals while keeping the kitchen, pantry and equipment clean, safe and hygienic.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation and cooking.
• Distribute and serve meals and drinks to hostel occupants and carers.
• Clean kitchen equipment, food preparation areas and the pantry.
• Collect and wash crockery, cutlery and utensils after meal service.
• Unpack deliveries and store perishable and non-perishable food safely.
• Follow the Food Safety Program, hygiene standards and waste disposal procedures.
• Work cooperatively with colleagues and communicate respectfully with occupants, carers and the public.

Required profile

• Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Good organisation and time management skills.
• Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of food preparation and hygiene standards.
• Desirable: Food Safe training, experience in a cross-cultural environment, and knowledge of equal opportunity, disability services and workplace health and safety.
