Fleet Strategy and Planning Lead

About the role

The Fleet Strategy and Planning Lead will shape V/Line’s rolling‑stock capability and support long‑term growth across regional Victoria. Reporting to the Director of Network Strategy & Timetable, the role develops medium to long‑term fleet strategies to ensure the right capability, capacity and utilisation for future service requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver medium‑ to long‑term fleet strategies aligned with V/Line’s growth plans.
• Identify current and future fleet gaps and propose strategic initiatives to address them.
• Provide evidence‑based recommendations to support operational and organisational objectives.
• Collaborate across planning, operations, rolling stock, asset management and external government stakeholders.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategies within transport, logistics or an asset‑intensive environment.
• Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate and influence diverse stakeholders.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues and develop evidence‑based recommendations.
• Experience in rolling stock, fleet management, asset management, transport operations or related industries.
